Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue is beginning our 2009-2010 training season. The first course is offered for the last time this year on December 5 and 6. The location is Frontier Park in Graham (Pierce County Fairground), 21718 Meridian Avenue East, Graham, WA 98338. Registration begins at 7:00am. Any trainee under 18 years of age will need a parent to come along to sign paperwork. It is also a good idea if parents can stay through the session on equipment, which will end about 10:00. Bring a pen, emergency contact phone numbers, your social security number, and wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the day's weather since you will be spending some time outside. The training cost is $90. You will need to provide your own lunch both days.(There is fast food within reasonable driving distance.)
Saturday training ends at 5:00pm but trainees have the option of spending the night or going home and returning the next morning. Bring a sleeping bag, pad to sleep on and whatever else you need. Dinner and breakfast will be provided for those who stay.
Sunday begins at 8:00am and will end at 5:00pm.
If you have not sent a copy of your NIMS tests certificates to the membership and records chairman, please bring copies with you. If you have not done the tests, you can still come but they need to be completed as soon as possible. The paperwork for the Department of Emergency Management cannot be turned in until they are done.
