Saturday, September 18th, the Pierce County SAR Council is hosting a Basic and Intermediate Helicopter Course at the Thun Field (Pierce County Airport) Firestation. Jeff Sharp(TMRU) will be teaching the course. The course will begin at 0800 and tentatively end at 1700. (The schedule is attached.) There will also be a BBQ afterwards, where you can get to know the other SAR units in Pierce County.
 
The course will cover helicopter safety, use of helicopters in SAR, passenger procedures, landing zone selection, ground to air communications, approach/departure protocols, and litter loading and unloading. Once the classroom portion is completed, the class will break for lunch and will get to practice helo procedures with an MD 600 helo and Pierce 6.
 
The class is highly recommended, especially for those planning on going through leadership training, and those already in leadership roles. You must have completed Course 2 to attend.
